Root canal treatment in Chesterland, OH immediately relieves pain, restores teeth to health

Root canal treatment in Chesterland, OH provides immediate pain relief to patients with deeply decayed and otherwise badly damaged teeth. Moreover, therapy at the office of Dr. Brianne Fratantonio and Chesterland Family Dental Care may be the only way to preserve a natural tooth that is marred by:

  • Extensive tooth decay
  • Wear and tear, caused by repeated dental treatments
  • Severe fractures
  • Faulty or worn restorations, such as crowns
  • Root infections or abscesses

Any condition that exposes the innermost structure, or pulp tissue, to harmful bacteria can result in the need for root canal treatment. The resulting inflammation and infection, and associated pain, will not resolve on its own. In fact, abscesses can spread to other parts of the face, and can even become systemic infections that warrant immediate medical attention. Our team uses the latest technologies and a light touch to precisely, predictably, and painlessly treat the affected tooth.

Restore your smile

Root canal therapy is a nonsurgical procedure. We’ll start by numbing the troublesome tooth. That way, you won’t feel anything except relief from the toothache that may have kept you at night for weeks! We can also discuss other options to keep you comfortable and relaxed throughout treatment.

Therapy itself is similar to a “deep cleaning.” We’ll access and remove the inflamed and infected tissues. The root canals that contain pulp tissue are then cleaned. After these sterilized canals are shaped, we’ll fill and seal off the treatment site with a thermoplastic gutta percha material. Sealing off the tooth encourages healing and prevents reinfection.

Typically, root canal treatment is followed by restorative treatment with a lovely, natural-looking and strong dental crown. The crown is the “finishing touch,” the part of the tooth seen above the gumline that restores chewing functionality and a beautiful, balanced appearance.

Lasting health

Root canal procedures have a very high rate of success. As with all medical treatments, though, there is no single procedure that is successful 100% of the time. If we can’t “save” your tooth, we’ll discuss options for tooth replacement promptly. By replacing missing teeth with conventional or implant-retained dentures and bridges, you avoid destructive processes that arise when the supportive bone doesn’t get the stimulation it needs from behaviors such as grinding down food.Teeth that are preserved with root canal therapy remain healthy for life, as long as you maintain consistently good oral hygiene at home and regular check-ups at our office. Chesterland Family Dental Care is proud to serve the Hunting Valley, Gates Mills, Chardon, Munson, Kirtland, Russell, Chagrin Falls, Novelty, and Mayfield region, and looks forward to meeting you.
