Don’t let wrinkles, signs of aging detract from your brilliant smile: Dermal fillers in Chesterland, OH

Injectable treatments such as Botox® and facial fillers are often associated with cosmetic improvement. But some of these aesthetic procedures are rooted in medical applications. As clinicians skilled in facial anatomy and function, the Chesterland Family Dental Care team is well-suited to administer dermal fillers precisely, safely, predictably, and comfortably at the Chesterland, OH office.

Fillers: “At home” in the dentist’s office

There are many different types of injectable fillers. They may be combined with other types of injectable treatment, such as Botox®, to accentuate the appearance of your smile. Fillers may also be used to regain youthful contours that have fallen due to the effects of gravity, age-related loss of collagen and elastin, and a range of other structural and environmental factors. When these specially formulated solutions are injected into precise points of your face with fine needles, they correct many cosmetic and functional concerns. They also have a proven therapeutic history. Neuromodulators like Botox® and fillers like Juvéderm® relax muscles or boost natural lubrication to reduce the symptoms of teeth-grinding and TMJ Disorders. By trusting your injectable treatment to a dentist like Dr. Brianne (“Dr. Bri”) Fratantonio, you benefit from unique skills and knowledge not found in other settings:

  • Building beautiful teeth, gums, and other features of your smile is what we do. We understand the relationship between all of these structures and can complement dental treatments with dermal fillers. So, you get the most balanced and natural-looking result from rejuvenating treatment.
  • Additionally, as health care providers trained and experienced in oral and cranial anatomy, we know how to use advanced products to minimize common functional problems. These conditions include temporomandibular joint (TMJ) pain and stiffness, and bruxism or teeth-grinding, and jaw-clenching.

Fillers work differently from Botox® and other neuromodulators like Dysport®. They are injected into lax, sunken, or wrinkled areas of the face to add volume. Injectables like Botox®, however, relax the muscles responsible for expression lines such as crow’s feet. Many of the most common fillers, including Juvéderm® and Restylane®, are made from a substance called Hyaluronic Acid. HA-based fillers are popular because hyaluronic acid is present naturally in the body. A water-loving molecule, HA lubricates or moisturizes the skin, eyes, and joints.

These HA solutions are gel-like and may be injected with super-thin needles into “problem” areas that have succumbed to a loss of volume and elasticity. Many are formulated with a numbing anesthetic for enhanced comfort. Once the injections are complete, you see immediate results. The product “fills in” hollows and folds in areas such as the lips, nose, mouth, and jawline (“pre-jowl”). Results are immediately noticeable.

Other types of dermal fillers, such as Sculptra® and Radiesse®, are formulated with different substances. Each type of filler has its own applications and special considerations; for instance, Sculptra® is a collagen stimulator. Results gradually improve over time, as more collagen is produced.
